Are you asking for cabinet size for the 414 the 416 or both ?
Hi,
I'm currently running the 802 and 416-8A in a short horn cabinet and have come across a pair of 414s. I'd like to try a active 3way now.
The idea is to handle the 300-3000hz range with the 414. Since it is the midrange I'm also thinking of avoiding parallel dimensions.
What would be the ideal sealed cabinet size here ? The dimensions I have in mind are 15x16x17, works to roughly 2.36 Cft.
Any advise would be welcome. Thanks.
I built the 3way with the 414. My posts are under moderation.
Will post details when I get past the 10th post I guess.
....continuing where I left off.....
The present system is a 515/288 in a 5.6Cft cabinet and Klangfilm horn (302 I think). I like the 414 and thought about experimenting with a 3-way ( ~ 2.4 Cft sealed ).
The box is well braced and nearing completion. Any ideas on deciding the XO points. The present 515/288 is running via a MiniDSP@800Hz, 2nd order BW. It is equalized at the low end, the upper end and around the 2000 point (attenuated), where the response is very strong.
Tossing between 200 /800 and 100/1200 hz. Any ideas would be welcome.
No clue without horn design details, output impedance of the system. Right now all I know is that the 'sweet spot' for the 515 is around 500 Hz.

Loud is Beautiful if it's Clean! As always though, the usual disclaimers apply to this post's contents.
The 515 is in a regular 5.6Cft box. The 414 is in a similar 2.4Cft box. Front width of both is 20".
One reason for the 200Hz point - 20" width gives an f3 of ~220hz, should this matter /be considered ?
Again, I know nothing about Klangfilm horns.

Can we ignore for now and solve the Bass /Mid xover bit...:S
Let me take a shot at it, so, here goes....
The 414 pair has original Altec cones. It cannot go very low though. I measured close range and this is what it does. By 2K there's a drop of almost 10dB.
Here's the TS spec.
